Synopsis

BIG TIME SUPER HERO In the Daily Bugle, editor and publisher J. Jonah Jameson discusses about the new superhero in town, Spider-Man, with some of the Bugle staff. He explains that superheros like Spider-Man sell newspapers, and tells Ben Urich, star reporter, that he should focus on a robbery story involving Spider-Man instead of the Kingpin story he had been working on.  Meanwhile, in the Parker house, Peter has finally discovered the formula of his father's molecular adhesive. Also, he has created a couple of web-shooters which will allow him to use the adhesive as a web, and he has also redesigned his Spider-Man costume, adding web patterns to it. He stays up late testing his newly discovered web, and the next morning he falls asleep in class. After accidentally breaking another desk as he wakes up, Peter informs that he quit the basketball team, much to Kong Harlan's dismay. When Peter starts arguing with Kong and Flash Thompson, Harry appears.  Peter and his classmates talk to Harry about the Osborn burning and the apparent death of Harry's parents, when all of a sudden an explosion interrupts them. As everybody runs out of the school, Harry panicks, saying that somebody has come for him. Unexpectedly, Spider-Man shows up and enters the school, after the inexperienced Peter realizes that he can't change his clothes there because his secret identity might be compromised, and after sneakily heading out through the bathroom window.  Inside, Spider-Man finds that a giant, green, gargoyle-looking goblin is responsible for the explosions. After some fighting and quips, Spider-Man tries to get him out of the school, but the Green Goblin succeeds in immobilizing him instead, and then jumps out of the school hundreds of feet into the air, dragging Peter away with him. The shocked Peter wonders who this goblin character is, as the Green Goblin appears to mumble "Parker".
