The Spirit Section was first published in assorted U.S. newspapers beginning with the Philadelphia Record, Sunday Star, Detroit News and Star Ledger Newark, NJ on June 2, 1940 and continued through 1954

Each section contained a Spirit tale, later collected in Quality comics' self-titled series plus additional stories
